Greetings!
This month we celebrate our nation's children and all those working to promote children's rights. November 5th is National Children's Day and November 20th is Universal Children's Day. As the most vulnerable members of our society, children are often the greatest victims of societal problems like poverty, illness and abuse. At the same time there are wonderful social profit organisations working with children, families and communities to uplift children's lives and give them the best possible future.

Children's organisations making a difference
South Africa has a thriving social profit sector with many organisations for children - assisting child-headed households, equipping containers for preschools, running shelters for street children, operating helplines for abused children, and many other valuable roles.

GreaterGood staff walk the talk on Do It Day
Friday 19th October was a beautiful sunny day in Cape Town - the perfect day to roll up our sleeves and get painting for Do It Day 2007. GreaterGood SA staff did a fabulous job brightening up Rainbow Educare, a pre-school in Vrygrond near Muizenberg.
Our talented graphic designer, Charlene, sketched some cartoon murals while less artistically-minded staff members got to work colouring in with rollers and paintbrushes. Rainbow Educare staff and children were delighted with the results and will be able to enjoy the bright pictures for many years to come.
GreaterGood SA staff joined corporate and individual volunteers working on 60 projects across South Africa.
A total of 709 volunteers gave their time, skills and sweat to good causes for a day on our third annual Do It Day - proving once again that South Africans really are a big hearted nation. Watch out for reportbacks on all the projects on www.doitday.co.za in the weeks to come.
