Overview

GreaterGood South Africa connects social investors with the development world in meaningful and innovative ways to create positive change in communities. Our aim is to build a culture of responsible giving by taking South Africans on a journey: from a ‘feel-good’, charity mind-set to effective social investment. We are equally concerned with helping South Africa’s non-profit sector along the same road towards sustainable and accountable development.

GreaterGood SA’s social benefit and giving network ggsa.co.za, globally recognised social investment exchange (sasix.co.za) and public call-to-action campaigns continue to provide innovative ways to engage with, and contribute to, the development of South Africa. And we are increasingly at the cutting edge globally as the key coordinators in the creation of coherence in the dynamic global social capital market.

GreaterGood SA now provides specialist Corporate Social Investment services to more than 74 corporate clients, while keeping in close contact with over 1,600 non-profit organisations working on the ground and facilitating the giving of money, goods, time and skills.

Despite the challenging economic and political climate, the 2008-09 financial year saw a great deal of growth in GreaterGood SA’s reach and results.

Our achievements include:
A significant increase in the number of causes registered with GreaterGood SA.
Growth in the number of registered donors.
More than double the amount of funds raised for causes through campaigns and the South African Social Investment Exchange (SASIX), compared to the previous year.

Significant growth in the number of corporate clients, as well as the amount of work undertaken for them.
Refinement of two major campaigns – Make Christmas Matter and
Do It Day – which spurred increased awareness and interest.
The launch of SASIX Financial, a new social and responsible investment product that offers market-related financial returns on high-impact social development projects, in partnership with Cadiz
African Harvest Asset Management.
The conceptual development of a global coordinating body of social investment platforms.
The creation of a South African Impact Investing Network (SAIIN) to boost socially responsible investing.
The creation of our social enterprise initiative, CSR Systems, and the first sales of its flagship web-based social investment tool, SI Manager, as well as a global social investment exchange platform which underpins the United Nations Human Development Social Exchange. CSR Systems will contribute to our long-term sustainability by commercialising our innovative social technologies and making them available for global application.
Increased media penetration, a boost in the numbers of visitors across our websites and new partnerships that have helped us to expand awareness of GreaterGood SA and its work.
