We certainly did. We were overwhelmed by your generosity and goodness of spirit - South Africans really are a warm and giving nation despite the very real problems we face.
It's International Thank You Day today so we're taking this opportunity to express our gratitude to everyone who supported GreaterGood causes and campaigns in 2007.
We have a great deal to be thankful for as we usher in a New Year full of excitement and hope. Thanks to you, last year was our most successful yet:
- We raised a massive R4,485,241 for good causes in South Africa - R1,946,719 more than in 2006.
- 321 new causes joined our innovative social benefit network taking the total number of GreaterGood-registered causes to 963.
- 3,135 people gave their time and energy through our campaigns - providing an estimated 21,945 volunteer hours for causes.
- 61 causes received previously loved goods and 34 causes welcomed 55,063 items of donated clothing.
- 220 investors bought 84,364 shares in 63 social development projects on the SA Social Investment Exchange (SASIX).
- 353 people joined in the giving season by buying alternative gifts at www.Gifts4Good.co.za and www.MakeChristasMatter.co.za, raising a total of R343,857 for accredited projects working towards the eradication of poverty in South Africa.
